Acting For Camera

This exciting, practical course is suitable for anyone wishing to develop their acting for camera skills and promote themselves into the film and television industry. You will learn how to analyse film scripts, create solid, believable characters, focus on truthful delivery and develop a solid inner monologue. You will also learn the exacting technical demands of film acting, from hitting marks, to understanding the importance of eye-line and how the framing of a shot affects the size and precision of performance, as well as gaining a knowledge of onset vocabulary and etiquette.  
This unique course employs professional casting directors and agents to help you experience the 'real world' of self promotion. We aim to create an authentic industry casting situation giving you a sense of what to expect of professional auditions and an understanding of what is required of you.    


Having a strong showreel is a key tool for progression into the industry. During the full day workshop you will incorporate  everything you have learnt on the course. Working with a Director, your scene will be filmed and edited with a copy given to you for inclusion on your showreel.
Week by week we will explore:

  •  Improvisation & scene study  

  •  Audition technique and preparation for live or taped auditions.

  •  Difference between castings for film, TV and commercials  

  •  Scene run-though and development  

  •  Character breakdown - Actioning and objectives

  •  Movement & speech for camera

  •  Blocking and hitting marks

  •  Techniques and composition of camera shots

  •  Continuity, takes and direction for camera

  •  The differences and similarities between theatre and film

Dates & times: Tuesday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30 : June 27th, July 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, 30th (whole day workshop)

Fee:  £ 350.00 for 5 evenings & one full day.
