How To Make A Professional Self Tape Audition

Course Details

Making a self tape audition is becoming ever more popular with Directors, Producers, Agents and Casting Directors. 

To give yourself a realistic chance you have to be above the rest and present your talent, skill and professional perception and acuity. You have to be the one they remember.

This course will help you choose the right speeches, teach you camera techniques and things to avoid, and provide you with a self tape that will show you off at your best.

Dates: Thursdays April 24th, May 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, June 5th, 12th.

Times: 7.30 to 9.30 pm.

Venue: The Bristol School of Acting, Silver Street, BS1 2AD.

Bashart Malik’s Directing experience spans over 15 years, working across film and performing arts. His approach uses methods to challenge the creative mind, develop your process and increase your confidence for scene work. Throughout this course you will learn to develop a deeper expressive delivery for auditions. You will learn to find your truth in every character and believe in yourself as a performer - undo traditional theatre training - get the strongest screen performance to create a polished self tape for agents and Casting Directors. Bashart’s films have screened at the Encounters Film Festival, Channel 4’s Random Acts short form strand, and he has collaborated with artists for BBC’s New Creative Scheme. He has led scene work with Bristol Old Vic MA Screen Actors 2023. His feature film ‘I Am Judah’ uses verbatim script to tell the first hand experience of a community elder who was brutally attacked by his local police. Other credits include - 2nd Unit Cinematographer on ’Golden Years’ featuring Bernhard Hill, Virginia Mckenna, Alun Armstrong, Una Stubbs, Mark Williams and Phil Davis - directed a short film featuring actor / comedian Ben Bailey Smith aka Doc Brown called ‘Amnesia’  https://www.docbrown.co.uk/work/ Is a Writer / Director at Altt Productions. Altt is a new Bristol based production company with a passion for studio quality horror, thriller and comedy films. He is Head of Production at Tabb https://tabb.cc/services/video-production and is currently developing a Pakistani western set in Bristol and North-East Pakistan and a short exposing the unfair use of a predictive policing app and themes for climate change fiction content.
