Audition speeches need to be very carefully considered, planned and rehearsed in order for you to present your talent and skill.
Gary Owston, BAA Director here. In my 40 plus year's teaching experience the very first thing that actors DON'T know what to do is choose the right speech. This consideration and choice is VITAL. When performing your audition speech you need to capture the auditioner's attention from the start and not let it go. If your speech does not suit you you're on a negative from the start... and it will take a huge amount of brilliance to re capture the attention.
Our skilled professional directors will choose the right speech(s) for you. We will guide you through the rhetoric of the speech so that every word, phrase, sentence and dramatic connection is perfect.
We can also help you with the audition itself. Like any interview there are positives and negatives that you must be aware of. It's not only about your talent it's about YOU. The director will want to know what it is going to be like working with you. I have sat through countless auditions where the speech is great but I wouldn't accommodate the actor.
Fees are £60 per hour at the Bristol School of Acting; £50 on Zoom; £60 plus travel if at your location.
